Happy Valentine's Day

I made the following card using the sketch from Paper Play Sketches.
The card base is Recollections A2 Kraft. The main background paper is Studio Calico Seven Paper Elliot Double Sided Scrapbook Paper. The purple, pink, and green scraps are from Memory Shoppe Fancy Paper Scrap Pack. The sentiment stamp- Happy Valentine's Day is Craft Smart and the monkey stamp is Waffle Flower Claire Stamp Set. I printed both stamps with Versa Fine Black Onyx Pigment Ink and colored both with Crayola Colored Pencils. I'm probably going to send this to one of my friends for Valentine's Day. TFL!

Christmas 2016

I made this layout following the above sketch from Scrap Our Stash Challenge and all entries are due by January 29 at 11 PM PST so there's still time to join if you'd like. The challenge is to use the letters GOALS or items from your stash that start with those letters. I chose Green patterned paper from Recollections Bright and Jolly 12 x 12 in Paper Pad. O is for Unity Stamp Company  the owl stamp from Owl I Want October 2016 Release. I used Archival Ranger Jet Black Acid Free Ink to stamp the owl. L is for Letters from Basic Occasions Jewel Scrap Pack for "Nolan" my title of the layout. S is for the stickers- wild baby boy- that I used for the journaling from Momenta Baby Boy 105 pc stickers. I used Crayola Colored Pencils and Spectrum Noir Essentials Blending Colored Pencils to color in the owl stamp. The red tag under the banner paper is actually a Holiday Occasions gift tag that I decided to use since it goes along with the colors of my layout.

close-up of the owl stamp
I decided not to color the owl's face or body since I stamped it on Kraft paper. I used scalloped edged decorative scissors to cut out the stamped image.

Nolan is my cousin's little boy that is also pictured above sitting in the middle of the couch. The pictures were actually taken December 17 at my Grandmama Farrow's house. We were all there for our Christmas get together. TFL!

Happy Birthday

I made this birthday card for my dad's 65th birthday coming up next Monday. The card base is Recollections A2 Kraft. The patterned paper- the main mat and the mat behind the stamp- is from Colorbok 12 x 12 in Signature Double-Sided Homespun Paper. The stamped images- the sentiment, cake and the sentiment below- are all from Unity Stamp Company So Glad You Were Born February 2016 Sentiment Kit. I used Spectrum Noir Essentials Blending Colored Pencils to decorate the cake and the the cake plate. I chose this sheet to emphasize the number 65, but not make it to subtle.
close-up of the inside . I forgot to mention that I used decorative edged scissors on both the cake and the above sentiment images. I used VersaFine Black Onyx Fine Pigment Ink to stamp all 3 stamps. That's all I have for now. TFL!

Happy Valentine's Day

I made this card for Send A Smile 4 Kids Challenge, but I'm going to send it to a little boy that I know is going through chemo after having a brain tumor removed.  The card base is Recollections A2 Kraft. The sentiment is a Dreamweaver stencil that I bought from Stampendous. I embossed it with my Cuttlebug on to a scrap of pink paper and it didn't show up very well so I traced over it with a purple ink pen. The stickers are from Sticko Everyday Stickers.
The stamped image on the inside is Stampendous Love You Candy rubber stamp. I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink and colored it in with Spectrum Noir Primary Essentials Blending Colored Pencils, the same purple ink pen for the words "I Love You", and Crayon Primary Colored Pencils. I used decorative edging scissors to cut around the image off of a sheet of typing paper. TFL, I'll be doing some more scrapping soon I'm sure. Have a great Wednesday! :)

2016 SMASH'd Christmas Cards

Kim (http://katydidcards.com/) made the above card for me. It was too pretty to attach with a brad since it's a step card. Thank you so much, Kim!
This is a close-up of the pocket I made using Recollections Christmas Holiday Cozy Lodge 8.5 x 11 Cardstock Paper and glued it down with the glue end of the black ink pen and some Elmer's Craft Bond Clear Adhesive Runner. I placed Kim's card and a few other cards in the pocket. I wrote Christmas Cards 2016 with the black ink pen that came with another SMASH book. I SMASHd the cards and pocket in the K&Company Eco Green SMASH Pad. The stickers are Sticko Christmas Ornaments.
These are 3 of the cards I received that I attached with a brad on each card.
This is the finished product of what the spread looks like when you look through the SMASH pad. TFL!

Thank You

I just recently bought a Cricut Cuttlebug Mint and it finally came in the mail yesterday. This is the first card I have made with my first die cut machine! You can kind of see it behind the card. I wanted to block out the rest of the room. The card base is Recollections A2 Kraft. The pink and green  paper is from The Paper Company Assorted Cardstock Citrus Color Sheets 8.5" x 11" that I trimmed down to fit the card. The pink paper I embossed with the Mosaic embossing folder that came with the Cuttlebug and then the sentiment "thank you" is a die that came with the Cuttlebug. The washi tape/ jars of hearts strip at the bottom is Studio G. My mom loved this card so much that she wants to use it to mail to my aunt to thank her for all she did for Emily while she was in the hospital at Greenville. I can't wait to use my Cuttlebug for many more cards and layouts! TFL!

Spruill Family

I used Colorbok 12 x 12 in Signature Double-Sided Homespun Paper - both the main background page and the strip down the middle. I chose this family paper with the birds because my grandmama loved to watch birds and most of the family in these pictures have passed on. The heart doily was a RAK from Mitzi. The top picture is of my great-grandparents John and Cora R. Spruill. I listed their birth, death, and marriage dates under their names. My great-grandmama was a Rhodes before she married my great-granddaddy so my grandmama and granddaddy are third or fourth cousins. Needless to say, my family tree crosses several times. :)  The title letters- Spruill- is from Best Occasions Jewel Punch Pack. The bottom picture is of my grandmama- Grace- and all of her siblings. She was the oldest of 10 children. She's the third from the left on the front row with the black jacket on. I included all of their names under the picture. Back row is Charles, Lathan, and John. Front row is Louise, Ida, Grace, Lavenia, Matilda, and Mary. Eli in right corner insert- died in a drowning accident. 3 of my grandmama's siblings are the only ones living- Lavenia, Louise, and Charles.  The pearl/bling strand is also a RAK. The blue bow was another RAK from Amy (https://shabby-is-chic-boutique.zibbet.com/).
This is a close-up of the Bible verse that I added to the middle of the heart- 1 Corinthians 13:4- Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. The sticker was part of a transparent sticker set given to me by Laura. This verse was one of my grandmama's favorite Scripture verses. This is also a close-up of the journaling for my great-grandparents picture. My great-granddaddy was born September 16, 1908 and died September 29, 1978. They were married January 15, 1931- and my grandmama was born July 16, 1932. My great-grandmother was born October 23, 1910 and died July 15, 2000. I have met more of my grandmother's family at both my granddaddy and grandmama's funerals. We did have a Spruill reunion August 2016 and hopefully will have many more. TFL!

Thanks A Latte

I made the following card using the above sketch from Mojo Monday and you can play along until Sunday, January 15 8:00 PM (MST) if you wish. Now on with the details.
I used Recollections A2 Kraft card as the card base. The paper is from Colorbok 12 x 12 in Signature Double- Sided Homespun Paper that I trimmed down to match the sketch. The washi tape is either Recollections or American Crafts, I lost the original packaging. I bought the stamps- the sentiment "Thanks a latte", the coffee cup/saucer, leaf, and heart- from Stephani Rogers on Facebook. I'm not sure of the name of the set. I stamped them all with Ranger Archival Jet Black Jumbo Ink Pad.  I used Recollections Masterpiece II Dual-Tip Primary Markers to color in the coffee cup/saucer and the heart stamps. I also used Copic Sketch Too 100 Black Marker to fill in the spots where the stamp didn't set.I used Gelly Roll Medium White Pen to accent the heart stamp and make the coffee look a little realistic. I decided to leave the circle part off my card, but you can tell I followed the sketch otherwise. I haven't decided who I will send this card to yet. I just received the stamps in the mail yesterday and couldn't wait to ink them up! :) TFL! I may make another card soon with another stamp set that I also bought from Stephani soon so be sure to come back later.

Endure

I made this layout for the Color Challenge above from Unity Stamp Company. They have a Challenge every week in their Facebook group- UNITY Show & Tell- where the link will take you.
The patterned paper is from ki Berry Blast Paper Pack by Hampton Art as are the photo mats. The  2 Unity stamps used are from an assorted Itty Bitty pack and I used VersaFine Black Onyx Pigment Ink to stamp them. The tag is from K&Company Abrianna Tag Pad and the ribbon is from The Vintage Rose Emporium. I wrote on the tag that these pictures are of Grandmama at 3 and 25. She loved birds and music and was the prayer warrior in our family is why I chose both stamps. TFL.

Soulmates

I made this layout as a tribute to my grandmother that just passed Christmas Day. She had congestive heart failure or an aortic valve blockage last Monday and was transported to Vidant Hospital in Greenville. My sister delivered her baby last Tuesday at 19 1/2 weeks pregnant and the baby died 2 hours later. His lungs weren't fully developed so he couldn't survive in an incubator and he never opened his eyes or cried. Needless to say, it was a hard Christmas, but by the grace of God He pulled us through. We know that both grandmama and Charlie, the baby, are in heaven and we'll see them again one day. Now, back to the layout. She loved birds and the color pink is why I chose this paper. The paper is from K&Company Que Sera Sera Double Sided 12 x 12 Patterned Paper Pad.The above picture is how I will put the layout in my scrapbook.
I attached the funeral program with a paper fastener so it can be read in its entirety. The picture on the left is of my grandmama as a teenager some time before 1948. The picture on the right of my grandparents in the 1980s. I'm not sure of the exact date or where the picture was taken. I've never seen the younger picture of her until her funeral. The cameo is a RAK from Amy (Shabby Is Chic Boutique). The title- Soulmates and the circle journaling are from Colorbok Signature Hopscotch 12 x 12 Double Sided Patterned Paper Pad. That's all of the layout. I have more pictures of my grandmama when she was little and some of her siblings that I will be scrappin' soon. I will miss her, but I'm glad I was able to see her the Friday before she passed and that I have a lot of good memories with her. TFL!

A Day At the Beach
