Pinspired Apple Doesn't Fall Far

I made this card following this pin. The card base is from Colorbok Signature Paper Family Double-Sided 12 x 12 Pad as is the apple that I fussy cut and the sentiment- The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree. The orange and white striped origami square is from Recollections Home Basics 6 x 6 Paper Pad. The kraft mat is from my stash. This was the simplest card I've made, but seemed hard at first. I had to use a ruler to draw the diagonal lines to fold the paper back and the sentiment took awhile to pick out. I also fussy cut the leaves around the sentiment. I'm planning on taking this card to a workshop I plan on attending at Stamp and Scrapbook Expo September 15-16 in Mesa, AZ. We have to make 16 cards ahead and will swap with 15 other girls. One will be judged for a prize. It's my first Expo and I'm excited! I won 2 vouchers and am flying out of New Bern September 13. I'm meeting a friend at our connecting flight in Charlotte and we will fly into Phoenix together. We're going to travel a lot of Arizona and visit with some of my friend's family. It's the farthest west I will ever have been! TFL!

Your Dreams Are Calling

I followed this sketch from Stuck?! Sketches to make this layout of my stepbrother, Dustin, and stepsister, Haylee. It was her College Graduation day. The black paper is from Close To My Heart My Reflections La Vie En Rose. The diagonal striped PP is actually the colors of University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) and is from Colorbok Signature Paper Family Double-Sided 12 x 12 pad. The kraft tag is from Ranger #8 (6.25 x 3.25 in) Kraft tags. The title- Your Dreams Are Calling- is from Recollections Candy Retro 12 x 12 in Paper Pad that I fussy cut with scalloped decorative scissors. The pictures are of Raiford G Trask Coliseum- where the graduation was held- and Dustin and Haylee out in front of the coliseum. The journaling block is from Teresa Collins Summer Stories and I wrote Haylee's Graduation from UNCW 2016. You have until August 29 to play along with this sketch if you'd like. I decided not to add too much to this layout since I made it late at night and too much clutter takes away from the pictures. TFL!

A Year of Card Techniques Stamping on Patterned Paper Blog Hop

Welcome to the

Welcome to A Year of Card Techniques Blog Hop where each month we feature a different card technique.  We’ve assembled a team of card makers who range from new to advanced, so you’ll see a great variety of cards and ideas.

We all love our stamp sets and we all love our patterned paper.  Well, this month we’re combining the two by stamping ON patterned paper for some unique projects.  It will be fun to see what stamps and papers our team decides to pair together.   And if you would like to check out our past technique hops, you can do that here:
Our amazing sponsor this month is Card a Day Challenge Blog.
Please take a moment to check out the CADC blog here.
And the awesome prize this month is:

We  really appreciate feedback, so please leave a comment on each of the  blogs in the hop today.   The winner will be announced on Sunday,  August 27, 2017 on A Piece of (my) Heart’s blog, so be sure to go back and check her blog to see if you are the winner!  If you would prefer to be notified, please leave your email address in the comments and someone will contact you if you win.    The winner will have until September 9, 2017 to claim their prize.
You should have arrived here from Debbie's blog . If you're visiting  here first, you might want to start at the beginning so you don't miss a thing and increase your chances of winning by commenting on  each blog.

I have a few projects to share with you so sit back and grab your favorite beverage! I've been working on a gift bag mini album/journal for a swap and the first 2 pics are of the recovered gift bag. I used K&Company  Que Sera Sera Designer 12 x 12 Paper Pad patterned paper on the cover. The butterfly at the top is from my stash. All of the stamps are from Unity Stamp Company. The camera, book-The Wild Adventures of An Authentic Woman, and I see the world better through my lens are from A Girl and Her Adventures Melody Ross Stamps. The arrow at the top right corner and the arrows at the bottom are from grab bags also from Unity. I used Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink to stamp them and then went over where the ink didn't stamp with a Gelly Roll White Medium Ink Pen.
The paper on this page of the journal is from Colorbok Homespun 12 x 12 Signature Collection. I'm not sure if this ticket pad stamp is from Unity or not. A friend gave a bag of stamps with some Unity so it may have been in a grab bag from Unity. I used the same Ranger ink pad as before. I will do a blog entry of the completed journal soon!

This paper that I made this card with is from Recollections Candy Retro 12 x 12 Paper Pad. The hearts were already punched on the paper when I bought the pad. The Love stamp is from Unity Layers of Life Never Ending Love December 2013 stamp set. It's actually the definition of love from 1 Corinthians 13 in the Bible!

I'm the last stop on this blog hop. Hope you had fun and thanks for stopping by.  See you next month with another technique!

Have a great weekend and be sure to come back to see the rest of my gift bag journal and a few other projects I need to blog about! :)

I have 2 beach layouts to share with you.
The paper is Bo Bunny Boardwalk 12" Boardwalk Summer Fun. The lighthouse and sand dollars fit with the beach! The title sticker- at the Beach and sun & sand epoxy sticker at the bottom are from MAMBI Soft Spoken Embellishments, Beach, Sun, and Sand. The my sister and me sticker is from Paper House Productions Sister 3D stickers set. The picture under it is a picture of me, Emily- my sister, and Venus. I typed the journaling at the top on my computer- Emily, Brian, Venus, and I went to Ft Macon State Park Beach for Brian's birthday on June 5, 2017. As you can tell it was a beautiful morning at the beach! We only stayed about 4 hours, but that was long enough and it did rain on the way back home. We stopped at Hobby Lobby where I bought some of the stickers for these layouts. I did some damage in there- Hobby Lobby is my beach addiction! It's on the way to the beach. New Bern is getting one soon, so I'm in trouble! Anyway, on to my next layout!

I used MAMBI 12 x 12 Ocean kit for this layout- the paper and the laugh sticker. The Playing in the Sand- title- sticker is from Reminsce Little Miss Crabby Die Cut Stickers. The Time for a Selfie sticker is from Paper House Productions Time For A Selfie 3D stickers. The laugh block is actually a die from Spellbinders Hipster Die Set that I cut with my Cuttlebug Mint. I was thinking of a Polaroid. Does anyone remember those? I added the journaling again by typing it on my computer- the top picture is of Venus, she didn't like the water, but did like digging in the sand. She barked at everyone that came on the beach to welcome them to the beach. We were close to the bottom of the ramp that drops off in the sand! The Time for a Selfie sticker is the caption for the top right picture- a group selfie of Brian, me, and Emily, I think Venus was down on the ground on her leash. The bottom picture is of Venus sleeping in the car- she was worn out after a long morning at the beach. It was her first time at the beach!

This is a close-up of Venus. I consider her my niece since Emily and Brian don't have children yet. She's a very playful little Dotson! She may get a little bigger, but not much bigger. I invite you to hop along with me in the Blog Lovers Hop as well. There's only 5 stops in that hop. Have a great weekend! I'm sure Alicia has something to awesome to share with us!

August 11-14 Weekend Blog Lovers Hop

Welcome to the Second Weekend Blog Lovers Hop! Thank you for joining us! Blog Lovers is a Facebook group for scrapbooking and papercrafts enthusiasts who also love to share their work on their personal blogs. We have been sharing our blog posts among our group for several months. The weekly hop is new; we're hoping that it grows! You should have started with Barb-http://supermamascraps.blogspot.com/.
I have two layouts to share with you.
I used Close To My Heart Sugar Rush Collection patterned paper as the main background. My sister's birthday (Emily) is also on July 4th. The photo mat behind the plate is from  Recollections Anchors 12 x 12 open stock patterned paper to show it's July 4th. The photo mat behind Emily looking at her "cake"- Emily's Delight- is from Pink Paislee Pen Pals 12 x 12 Patterned Paper Pad, the scalloped circle that I used as a photo mat behind Emily- the birthday girl- looking at me is part of Little Yellow Bicycle 6 x 6 Decorative Edge Cardstock- a set of  5 different designs. The title- Let's Celebrate- is from My Mind's Eye My Story 24 Die-Cut Journal Cards that I trimmed down to fit the page. The journaling tag is also from the same set and I typed Mr Ray, Mama, Dustin, Brian, and I celebrated Emily's birthday at her house on July 4. Her "cake" was Emily's Delight or Dirt Pudding. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, sweet gherkins pickles, and homemade macaroni salad for lunch. The ribbon is from Craft Essentials Summer12. The one of a kind sister sticker is from Paper House Productions Sister 3D sticker set. The balloons I made with an American crafts circle punch and Timeless Twine Watermelon Sorbet- they're doing maintenance right now, but can also be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/BellaCreationz/. I wrote Happy 39th Birthday- each part individually on the balloons. The paper I used for the balloons is Recollections Home Basics 6 x 6 Paper Pad.

This second layout is of a picture that was also taken on Emily's birthday.
I made this layout for a Scavenger Hunt Challenge with Paper Issues on their Facebook site- https://www.facebook.com/groups/1499810043590964/- it's a closed group, but you can request to join. The challenge ended at 1 EST Saturday, August 5, but I posted it Friday, August 4 on their Facebook. We were to find these 8 items in our scrapbooking supplies- floral paper, polka dotted paper, a frame, stars, a sun, 3 stickers, wood veneer, and a camera. The floral paper is from Colorbok Homespun 12 x 12 Signature Paper. The polka dotted paper is from Recollections Home Basics 6 x 6 Paper Pad. The frame is from a set of frames in my stash. It did have a strip down the middle like a film strip, but I cut it out so it wouldn't cover the tiki fountain. The big star is from a K&Company SMASH Retro Grab Bag. The little star, and the other 2 pieces of wood veneer- Over & Over and Crazy Cool are Studio Calico Sundrifter Wood Veneer set. The sun sticker is from MAMBI Soft Spoken Embellishments, Beach, Sun & Sand. The camera and Capture the moment stickers are from Paper House Productions Time For A Selfie 3D Stickers. The dolphins stickers are from a Lisa Frank set. The Lovely sticker is from Echo Park Paper Capture Life Allison Kreft Element Stickers. So the 3 stickers were the title- Capture the moment, the dolphins, and Lovely. I wrote the journaling with colored pencils- I wrote that Brian & Emily have a beach themed house- shells and flamingoes above the picture. Below the picture I wrote Venus is checking out the Tiki Water Fountain that Brian fills with water over and over. You can see the journaling close-up in this picture.

That's all I have for you, but you are also welcome to hop along with me in the Catch a Wave Blog Hop and start with Connie-http://conniecancrop.blogspot.com/ at midnight EST for a chance to win some prizes. Now you're off to Camille- https://shortonideasaz.blogspot.com/.
