Year of Card Techniques World of Watercolors

Welcome to A Year of Card Techniques Blog Hop where each month we feature a different card technique. We’ve assembled a team of card makers who range from new to advanced, so you’ll see a great variety of cards and ideas.
For May, we are venturing into the world of watercolor. There are so many watercoloring techniques available to us today; far too many to list here. But actions speak louder than words; so our team has worked with their favorite mediums to bring you lots of examples and loads of inspiration.
If you would like to check out our past technique hops, you can do that here:
We have an amazing sponsor this month, Jodie Park of Close to My Heart:

Please take a moment to check out the great products Close to My Heart has to offer. To visit Jodie on Facebook page, just click here.
And the awesome prize this month is:

We really appreciate feedback, so please leave a comment on each of the blogs in the hop today. One winner will be chosen from all comments on the hop as of May 26, 2017. The winner will be announced in our June hop; so be sure to come back next month.
And speaking of winners, the lucky hopper from last month is Golden Goddess Designs; picked by Random Name Picker. Congratulations! Please get in touch with last month’s sponsor, Wilma Payne at wpayne@email.com, by May 26th to claim your prize.
You should have arrived here from Jearise  . If you're visiting here first, you might want to start at the beginning so you don't miss a thing and increase your chances of winning by commenting on each blog.
Now for my projects. The first card I used a technique from All Free Paper Crafts. It's supposed to be made with Liquid Frisket, but an associate at Michaels showed me what they did have- Fine Line Masking Liquid Glue Pen that basically does the same thing as Liquid Frisket. You apply watercolor paint- I used Shimmerz Vibez Razzeldazzle Berry and Jeni B Bleu spritzers that I won from SpeigelMomScraps.  Well, technically you spray the paper first with the paint and then spray with water and I rubbed it in a little with a paint brush. As you can see I wrote the word Happy with the Fine Line glue and let it dry and then peeled it off to create a masking effect. I added Doodlebug Design Donut Shoppe Washi Tape at the bottom. Oh, I almost forgot the type of watercolor paper I used is Crayola Marker and Watercolor Pad- found at Walmart. The flowers are Recollections Paper Flowers and I adhered everything down with Elmer's Craft Bond Permanent Tape Runner except the flowers I used Elmer's Craft Bond Clear Dual Tip Glue Pen.
For the next card I followed the sketch above from MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge Sketch 333 and am entering this card to the challenge. The challenge ends May 23. I used the same Shimmerz Vibez as before and the same technique as before, but I didn't use a paint brush this time. I tried using the FineLine glue and it didn't work as well on this card. I used Jot deco tape for the 2 lines in the sketch- the first one has Think Happy in fine print under the design and the bottom strip is sunflowers and pink flowers. I found this washi tape at Dollar Tree, it comes 7 little rolls to a pack with 7 different designs. Almost a steal! The Hello and strawberry stickers are from a Made for Retail sticker book that was given to me in a swap with another group on Facebook. The sequins are also from SpiegelMomScraps and the kitty stamp is from Stampendous Fran's Spring Short Stack- it's 2 different stamps- the head and the dress. I used Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink to stamp them with. I adhered the sequins and watercolor paper- same as before- with Elmer's Craft Bond Permanent Tape Runner.
That's all I have for this hop. Now you’re off to visit with Card A Day Challenge  . Hope you had fun and thanks for stopping by. See you next month with another technique!

Here’s the full line-up in case you get lost:

Well, I've never heard of Liquid Frisket or spritzers, so your post was very informative and interesting. The colors you used are so soft and pretty. Always a pleasure hopping with you and seeing what you share each month.

Love those pastel colors. Masking is one of those things that I shy away from, so I'm glad you explored that in your post. Great cards, and great hopping with you.

Wonderful creations Amanda...love the colors you picked. I too have some masking fluid in my stack, but never thought of using it with my watercolors. I have to try this one day. Like always, it was so much fun hopping with you and see you next month :-)

I've never heard of Liquid Frisket before and thought it was a typo at first until I looked it up. Pretty interesting looking stuff. Your cards are all lovely.

Very pretty card. You asked for feedback, here is mine. I love Blog Hops but don't like when there are so many you have to go do, time is very limited and I don't have the time to go to all the blogs when there are so many. Just my feedback. BL

Very pretty cards - love the soft colors. I have never heard of Shimmerz Vibez, so I'm off to find out more about them. Thanks for sharing about the masking fluid pen. I've never used any masking fluid - you've inspired me to try.
