Happy Birthday Tyler!

I made this birthday card for my little brother's 6th birthday that is coming up in November. I know he likes Despicable Me, so I used this freebie from Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons (http://prettypaperprettyribbons.blogspot.com/) and am entering this card in Through the Purple Haze Challenges (http://throughthepurplehazechallenges.blogspot.com/) that ends very soon. Our inspiration had to be a song, book, film, or cartoon. I know Tyler loves Despicable Me so I had to make him a card with this file! I also used DCWV All About Boys Stack as the background of the card, the blue is from Best Occasions 8 ounce Scrap Pack that I bought from Walmart a few yrs back, the Happy Birthday stamp is Skipping Stones Design (SSD) You Know You're Getting Older Collection (which is no longer in existence), the balloons/star are Recollections Dimensional Stickers, and ther letters are Simple Stories Happy Day Expressions Cardstock Stickers thanks to Housecalls by: Scrapping Madge formerly Heartstring Designs (http://heartstringdesigns.com/), from the August Life of the Party Kit and the card base is DCWV Greens Card Stack. He loves balloons and had a balloon dog like the balloon I used in the card when he came to my house a few months ago.
This is the top inside spread. The turtle, tree, and monkey are Sticko Funky Monkey and the ladybug on the leaf is Sticko Lady Bugs. My dad used to call me and my sister monkeys when we were little so I had to put a monkey sticker on his card to carry on the tradition! :)
This is the bottom inside spread of the card. The cake is also SSD You Know You're Getting Older Collection and the 6 that I used as a candle is also from Housecalls by: Scrappin Madge but is from the September Collection Hello Gorgeous Take 2 Accent Stickers by Monte Paper Mill (http://www.montepapermill.com). I colored the cake with American Crafts Candy Shoppe and Basics Pens and EK SUCCESS Zig Memory System Azure 0.5mm Ball pen. He's gonna love this card! TFL and have a great weekend! :)

Thanks

I started this card last night after receiving this Royal Bundle from 3 Girl JAM and I'm entering this card in their current challenge (http://3girljamchallenge.blogspot.com/). This paper reminded me of fall and butterflies with all the swirls. The butterfly stamp is Skipping Stones Design Wind Beneath My Wings/Nature Collection, the "Thanks" stamp is The Stamps of Life by Stephanie Barnard Thanks2Fall (http://stephaniebarnard.blogspot.com/) that I won from a blog hop from Ashley (http://marinewifesscrappinlife.blogspot.com/). Ashley just became a part of the design team with Through The Purple Haze so check out her blog! I just went to her blog and saw that and thought I'd throw that out there! :) The paper was given to me as was the inside spread and the tag so I don't know the collections. I have a bunch of 6x6 squares already precut because the girl that gave them to me used to make mini albums and they're easy to make cards with. I had to cut a stip of both sheets to fit the DCWV Greens Card Stack card. Everyone that knows about 3 Girl JAM (http://www.3girljam.com) should recognize the Royal Bundle ribbon- Purple Passion and Gold Crown! I'm gonna have fun with the ribbon on future projects! :) I colored the butterfly with American Crafts Candy Shoppe Gel Pens, Sharpie Pastel Blue Ultra Fine Point Permanent Marker, American Crafts Fuschia Premium Metallic Ink Glitter Marker, Gelly Roll Clear Star Pen (to accent the wings and make them look clear), and a yellow marker that came with a scrapbook kit from Walmart years ago.
This is the inside top spread. The stamp is Inkadinkado Autum Foliage Clear Stamps that I stamped onto a piece of white 8.5 x 11 paper with Versa Fine Onyx Black Pigment Ink (I used it on all 4 stamps) and then colored over it with EK SUCCESS Earth Colors Memory (Colored) Pencils. I don't use them very often, but will be using them more after trying this shading effect!
I colored on this tag/bookmark before doing the stamped image above and ruined the stamp. The ink didn't want to dry and learned that I won't do that again! I realized when I stamped it and it was "wet looking" that I should have stamped it first. Oh, well, lesson learned! The stamp is also from Inkadinkado Autumn Foliage Clear Stamps set and I used the same colored pencils, the bling is Halloween Rhinestone Stickers, and then I added a piece of Purple Passion 3GJ Royal Ribbon. I attached the bookmark to the card with Recollections Foam Adhesive Squares to so it would stay in the card, but can also be removed to be used as a bookmark.
This is what the finished card looks like! I had to hold it closed with my finger to take the pic, but it wouldn't stay closed and still isn't closed. I put a paper clip on it to keep it closed until I give it away! TFL and have a great weekend! How do you like the template change on my blog? I didn't like how my title was hiding at the top left before! I may change the background soon. The current one is kinda getting old on me! Anyway, have a great weekend!

Fresh Brewed Designs Surprise Challenge

I made this card for Fresh Brewed Designs (http://freshbreweddesigns.blogspot.com/) Surprise Challenge. I used Colorbok Deluxe Textured Cardstock for the card base, K&Company Urban Rhapsody as the background paper behind the digi, the roof is a piece of Basic Grey Curio 6x6 paper pad, the purple ribbon is from my stash, I decided to use one American Crafts Delights Paper Flower in the corner instead of 3 bling/circles, the yellow ribbon is American Crafts Premium Ribbon Peachy Keen, the purple ribbon that I used under the roof/awning is from my stash (it was a big strip and I cut it in half). I used American Crafts Basic/Candy Shoppe gel pens, Sharpie Pastel Ultra Fine Point Permanent Markers, Zig Memory System EK Success 0.5mm Pigment Ink Pens, American Crafts Galaxy Marker Orange, Gelly Roll Clear Star Pen, American Crafts Glitter Marker Fuschia, and some other markers from my stash to color the digi.
Close-up picture of menu and cupcakes display
Close-up of Coffee sign and other window and the woman standing at the counter. I didn't want to color over my writing and then realized the coloring that I did add made them look like actual signs! A storefront usually has advertisements or some way to entice you to come in and this was my advertisement signs!

I will probably use this card as a birthday card. I'll have to add a piece of paper to the inside since the brown is double sided and brown on both sides. I decided to make the roof look dimensional and then added the ribbon underneath for the ruffle fringe on it. I used decorative scissors on the top and bottom, because the paper was torn and the bottom was cut on the original 12x12 sheet. TFL!

Sister Bowling Fun

I made this layout following the sketch above for the September Sketch Challenge with Scrapping Everyday Miracles ( http://scrappingeverydaymiracles.blogspot.com/). The twist was to include some string/fiber so I used baker's twine in the upper left hand corner- 3 different colors: pink, teal, and purple. Both the background paper and the purple squares are Studio G Variety Paper Pack. The bowling stickers (bowling pin/Strike & the 3 stars) I bought from Michaels that I believe are Soft Spoken I lost the original wrapper for them. The Sis sticker is from a Sister sticker set and I believe it's K&Company. The brackets are The Storytellers Club You Are My Sunshine, the brad holding the twine is KI Memories Paisley Parade Epoxy Fasteners, the bling is Studio 18 Rhinestones that I received from Jearise from a blog hop win, and the journaling diecut is Basic Grey Pyrus Writer's Block.
Close-up of Sis sticker- my title of this layout
Close-up of journaling diecut, bracket, and bling
Another close-up of bling and the other bracket. I had fun making this layout! I had to cut the pictures down first to cut out the unnecessary ceiling and other bowling lanes. Then I cut the 8x8 purple dragonfly sheet down to 6 squares, and then decided to take one square out for the journaling diecut. I wish all layouts were this easy! LOL! I thought I had it done and realized I forgot the twist and then decided to add the bling! I better get to bed. I have a busy day ahead of me! I have to clean the bathroom, vacuum the living room, make brownies for Special Needs Coffeehouse at church, apply at Lowes and Staples, go to the Special Needs Coffeehouse/Talent Show and set-up the computer for Sunday's worship while watching the kids sing/dance, and then help clean-up and set the chairs up for Sunday's worship! No time for scrappin' tomorrow! TFL and have a great weekend!

Give Thanks

I've had this stamp set, Inkadinkado Autumn Foliage, for a few years and have never used it until last night! I honestly don't remember where I bought it. I've had the pumpkins and Give Thanks sheet for a few years as well. I believe I bought it at Michaels. The ribbon is from my stash and was just a big enough piece to fit this card! The bling is Halloween Rhinestock Stickers from Kim. The chevron paper is The Paper Studio Halloween Chevron that I just bought this past Saturday from Hobby Lobby and the felt popper is from a blog hop prize from Pinque Peacock ( http://pinquepeacock.blogspot.com). I used VersaFine Black Onyx Pigment Ink to stamp the pumpkin stamp. I decided to stamp it on orange cardstock instead of on white photocopy paper to eliminate the extra layered look. I did color over it with American Crafts Candy Shoppe and Galaxy Marker Orange Opaque Ink. I started this card around 9pm so I wanted to eliminate a few steps and get to bed!
This is the inside top spread. I decided to make this look like a collage showing my favorite things about fall. The "yummy pumpkin pie*crisp applie pie*turkey & cranberries (I don't like cranberries, but it goes with fall/Thanksgiving)" is from The Paper Studio Thanksgiving Words from Hobby Lobby,"Leaf Piles" and "harvesy happy fall bountiful apple cider acorns friends hay rides" strip is from the same sheet as the pumpkins/Give Thanks on the front. The leaf sticker is Reminisce Fall Self-Adhesive Diecut Stickers that I bought from a LSS that is no longer in business thanks to Michaels and is the last sticker from that sheet. I used one of my DCWV Greens Card Stack as a pattern to make this card and adhered the Halloween Chevron paper to the Colorbok Deluxe Textured Cardstock Orange paper with Scrapbook Adhesive Mounting Squares that I also bought from Hobby Lobby this past Saturday.

The journaling square "Happy Fall" I found off of Pinterest (http://www.kimberlykalil.com/) from a set of printables. I'll write on this block or I may write beside it since it is kinda dark. I've been wanting to make a fall card or layout with this stamp set and when I saw that Hobby Lobby had a sale this past Saturday I had to buy some paper! The Paper Studio was 50% off making the sheets $0.29 each!! What a deal! I could have stayed in there for hours, but I was with my mom and we were looking for retirement party ideas. We did find The Party Place up the road and a Christian bookstore. We might go back to The Party Place for more party supplies. I just wish New Bern had more party supply stores. I used to work at one and it went out of business because of WalMart and Dollar Tree selling balloons cheaper and we also have Party City nearby in Greenville. Anyway, this cooler weather is making me anxious for fall and wearing my favorite sweaters/hoodies! TFL and have a great day!

Peace Joy...Christmas Card

I have been wanting to use this stamp- Wreath Girl from Fresh Brewed Designs (http://www.freshbreweddesigns.com) on a card, but had misplaced it. I was determined to find it today!! I won it last year from An'Jenic in a blog hop she was in and had never used it until today. The card is Recollections Printed Cardstock Bright Christmas, the stamp is from my Hampton Art Holiday Stamp Card Kit, and Trendy Twine Candy Cane by Annie's Paper Boutique. I used American Crafts Candy Shoppe and Basics Gel pins to color the image as well as EK Success Zig Memory System Ball .5mm Pigment Ink & Gelly Roll Clear Star Pen (to blend the colors on her dress and highlight the sentiment stamp).

This is the inside spread that I glued in with Craft Smart glue stick. It's from Recollections Bright and Jolly 12x12 paper pad. Both stamps were stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black Pigment Ink before coloring. The Wreath Girl stamp is adhered to the card with Recollections Foam Adhesive Squares. I was gonna make more than one card, but the coloring took me longer than I expected & I tried paper piercing before I colored the stamp. That's gonna take some more practice!

I watched New In Town while I made this card. If you've never seen it, I recommend it! 4 women scrapbook throughout the movie and it seems to be their source of comfort for living in Minnesota. Renee Zelleweger and Harry Connick Jr are the main characters. I don't want to tell the rest of the plot to ruin the movie.

I wasn't on the computer much today because of the movie and this card and found out that a friend of mine from high school passed away last night (Sept 11). I even texted her around 10am this morning and never got a response and found out why when I looked at her Facebook wall this afternoon. Her uncle posted that she passed last night and that her viewing is at 3 on Saturday. Needless to say, I was and still kinda am in shock. I broke down and cried. I can't imagine what her family is going through. She had cancer and had been hospitalized since August. Her last few texts were sent to all of her contacts at one time like a forward telling that she had to rest for a feeding tube to be put in place and then that the feeding tube had been placed. That was Sept 3. She didn't post anything on Facebook after that except comment on what people put on that post on her wall. I ate lunch with Annie for a year or 2 years, I can't remember when she graduated right now. I'll have to look through my high school yearbooks. We lost touch and later came back in contact on MySpace, then Facebook, and then texting and on Facebook. We would vent to each other whenever needed via text for encouragement from each other. We prayed for each other and our families. We sometimes texted all day. It's gonna be different without hearing from her, but I still have other friends I text. It just won't be the same. I can't remember how long she had cancer. It seems like it was 2 years, she was in remission for some time and then the doctors found more fluid and she had to have chemo all over again. She lost her hair and sent me a pic of her wearing a cap like nurses wear. I remember the last pic she sent me of her hair grown back she looked so dark and you could tell she had lost some weight. She was a very sweet friend and will be deeply missed. Sept 11 will always have a different memory for me now. TFL and I'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers for her family and for me as well. She never had any children, but does leave behind a husband and a stepson.

Sunshine/Fall

I made this LO for Scrapping Everyday Miracles' September Main Challenge (http://scrappingeverydaymiracles.blogspot.com). The twist was to use 3 or more leaves so I used 2 leaves on the corners, a cluster in the top left corner, and a palm tree in the bottom left corner! We were to make a LO of our favorite season and my favorite is summer! I chose this PP from Me&My Big Ideas Sunshine Speciality Pad. The picture is from last summer when I went to Atlantic Beach with Julie, a friend from work. The pic mat and the paper on the tag are both from Basic Grey Life of the Party 6x6 paper pad, the ribbon is American Crafts Premium Ribbon-there's some leaves on the flowers, the flip flops are Stickeroni from Hallmark, the corner/leaves bundle is from ATD Super Sticker Pack Safari set, the palm tree/umbrella are from a sticker set from Michaels (I don't have the original packaging so I forgot the manufacturer), the twine is from my stash, the rainbow bling is from my stash, and the flower is KI Memories Paisley Parade Epoxy Fasteners. I used Recollections Foam Adhesive Squares to adhere the ribbon, pic mat, and tag to the layout. I was trying to get a picture of the ocean from where I was sitting and later worried about the umbrella because it was very windy and I was afraid the umbrella was gonna come out of the whole it was in. I was thinking when I placed the palm tree on my layout that it would have been nice if a palm tree was on the beach instead of the umbrella! There's no shade whatsoever on our beach! Here's a close-up of the tag:

I traced the paper using the chipboard tag that I glued the paper to with Craft Smart glue stick (it is acid free so I used it on my picture as well).
I made this tag for Miriam's Crafting Blog 4th Monthly Challenge- Red and Orange Color Palette (http://miriamscraftingblog.com/1/post/2013/09/miriams-crafting-blog-4th-monthly-challenge-red-and-orange-color-palette.html). The tag the PP is glued to is from my stash and I used it to trace on the PP and cut it out. The PP is Studio G 12x12 Paper Pack ($0.97 at Walmart- 7 sheets), the bling is from my stash, the pinkish orange sticker is ATD Super Sticker Pack Family set, the fall sticker is BoBunny Falling For You (that I've had in my stash since my LSS closed before Michaels came to town), and the ribbon is American Crafts Premium Ribbon (also been in my stash for a long time). TFL and I hope you had a great day! I remembered the events from 9-11-01 today- hard to believe it's been 12 years! I'm recording a program on The History Channel about a guy that knew the planes were going to hit The World Trade Center and ends up dying in the aftermath.

There She Goes Cake/Cupcake Challenge

I made this card for There She Goes Clear Stamps (http://tsgclearstamps.blogspot.com/) TSG224 Cakes, Cupcakes, & Birthday Treats Challenge. I used my Heartstrings August Kit- Simple Stories- for the card base, the monkey is Sticko Funky Monkey Stickers, the sentiment "Happy Birthday to you" is from Simple Stories Happy Day 6x6 paper pad, the strawberry & cupcake are Sticko Sweet Treats Dimensional Stickers, and Pebbles Paper Flowers (also part of the August Kit). I used Recollections Foam Adhesive Squares to adhere the sentiment. After I placed the monkey, I thought about putting a piece of cardstock under him so the stripe wouldn't show down his face, but when I lifted the sticker up the paper stuck to it so I decided to leave it. I know next time I use the Funky Monkey stickers to put cardstock down if I'm using PP! I made this card the same size of a 5.5 x 4.25 card by using DCWV Greens Card Stack as my guide and I cut the PP with my XACTO 12in Rotary Trimmer. TFL &  have a great Tuesday!

My Take on Pinspired Challenge #16

I made this card using the above photo inspiration from Pinspired (http://pinspiredchallenges.blogspot.com/2013/08/pinspired-challenge-16.html) for Pinspired Challenge 16. It ends tonight at 11:59 central time. I used an 5.5 X 4.25 card to cut the paper to the right size to fit in an envelope with my X-ACTO 12in Rotary Trimmer. The paper is K&Company Susan Winget Nature, the stamp "You are the wind beneath my wings" is Skipping Stones Designs Wings collection that is no longer sold, I used VersaFine Onyx Black Pigment Ink, the paper is a RAK from Joy Meadows from the August Card Challenge I participated in with Deborah Nolan, and I colored the sentiment with 2 Sharpies Purple and Pink both Pastel and accented it a little with my Gelly Roll Clear Star pen.
This is the inside with "Have a beautiful birthday" stamp also from Skipping Stones Designs Wings collection. I don't really have anyone in mind to give this card, too, but will save it for a later date when I need a card. TFL and have a great weekend!

Happy Happy Birthday to You!

I made this card late Saturday night for my stepdad. We celebrated his birthday yesterday even though it is today since Dustin, Haylee, and Emily couldn't be here today. They're off at college and work. I made this in my room on my bed, because I didn't want my stepdad to walk by the computer room and see me making it. I could have closed the door, but didn't want to. It didn't take me long to make this card it was just the planning process that always takes me the longest- what paper am I gonna use and how do I want it to look! I didn't really have any masculine birthday paper so I just decided to make it simple! I used my August Kit of the Month that I won from Heartstring Designs (http://heartstringdesigns.blogspot.com/)- the mat on the front is Echo Park Paper Birthday Wishes by Glitz, the "Happy Happy Birthday to You is Simple Stories Happy Day Designer Cardstock Flash Cards Item #1509 & is attached to the card with Recollecions Foam Squares, the twine & bling is from my stash, and the mat on the inside is Simple Stories Happy Day 6x6 paper pad. The card is DCWV Card Stack Greens. I used a Craft Smart glue stick to adhere the mat on both the front and inside of the cover since I ran out of photo mount squares. It's not the best glue stick, but it will work for now. I hope to find another job soon so I can have money to spend on scrapbooking supplies and other things that I miss doing. The foam squares help, but I don't want everything projecting out from the card! I may have to start making cards from 12x12 sheets until I can afford to buy more supplies. TFL and I hope you all have a good week!

A Day At the Beach

I made this card for a swap yesterday and am just getting around to blogging about it. I'm entering this card in  The Sisterhood of Craf...
