Make Waves

I made this LO for Scrappin-n-Chattin's Kraft Challenge. I used the box my cell phone came in, thanks FedEx! LOL! I feel like I just got an Oscar and thanking FedEx! LOL! The picture is of Tammy taking a picture of Tyler & Scott at Ft Macon State Park/Atlantic Beach! I didn't zoom in on Tyler, because my when the sun is shining so bright it's hard to see thru the little peep hole/viewer on my camera. I think the pic turned out great as is!! The paper is Colorbok Bright Ideas and I thought the waves/swirls on the page would be perfect with the pic! The title- "Make Waves", subtitle- "a change of scenery". and wave/swirl on the left are K&Company and I colored them with my Candy Shoppe pens and Gel Roller Clear Star pen! :) The word "sunshine" is Making Memories Clear Stamps Flutter, the sun sticker is Hallmark, the bling & swirl on the right  is Sticko Rainbow Swirl, the flip flops were a RAK, the surf's up sticker is Sticko that I've had for awhile- I don't remember the collection, and t he blue strip behind the journaling is Colorbok Bright Ideas. I tried to stick to the same colors- blue, green, & silver and added yellow, orange & red after adding the flip-flops! I used "a change of scenery" because Daddy, Tammy, & Tyler were here visiting, at the time, from CT after seeing so much snow! God makes the waves, not us, so I chose that title since there are waves in the pic! The journaling states that "Tyler started liking the beach this past Labor Day and was watching the waves. The water was too cold & the weather was actually pretty nice!" I realized afterwards that it wasn't Labor Day, it was Thanksgiving 2010, because Scott didn't go with us Labor Day! Oh, well! I let my secret out! LOL! I didn't want to change it after I already had it glued down!

I'm getting excited about the Newsboys concert coming next Friday night!! I can't wait! I've never seen them in concert! They've changed band members more than any other Christian group, but I still kept up with them since 1993! Shine was the first song I remember of theirs! 8 Days!! March 9th can't get here fast enough!! :) TFL & Happy National Pancake Day!!

Memories

Pagemaps is giving away a Pagemaps 2 book today and I decided to enter this LO for that giveaway! You can't see the trail from the top butterfly to the title, but it's there, it's very faint. The tags are K&Company Tim Coffey Cottage Garden, the paper is Colorbok- 2 different sets that I bought from Target-$0.99 each, the heart for the journaling- "Emily & I July 4, 2009"- is Studio G, the butterfly ribbon is American Crafts Premium Spring Pink Ribbon, the photo corners are Martha Stewart Crafts/EK Success (a TJ Maxx find), and the butterflies were a RAK from April. I used my favorite Gel Roller Clear Star pen to accent the butterflies and the trail! The title is "Memories" since this is a memory I had with my sister! July 4th is also her birthday and we went up to Raleigh to celebrate it with her and Scott on her 31st! I look forward to following Pagemaps in the future!! TFL! :)

These Are the Moments We Live For

You can make any type of project for this challenge (a card, a layout, a 3D item, etc.) but you must explain in your post or description what inspired you :) For example.. it could be..

-green/grey/white pop and pop of auburn color palette

-engagement/wedding theme (she's holding a ring)

-project featuring a couple

-include a froggie (leap!)

-use a movie theme

-Irish theme (the movie is set in Ireland!)

I made this LO following the above requirements for TPV. I also used this for Scrappin-n-Chattin's Flag Challenge. I used the green/grey/white pop & a pop of auburn color pallette, my grandparents as the couple featured, and included a frog on the right of the pic! The sentiment and the frog inspired me. The sentiment states that "Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children"- Alex Haley. I used my favorite Gel Roller pen again on the frog and the words "Your wish will come true" (under the flags on the left side of the LO)! I used Studio G for the pic mat & sentiment mat. The gray behind the top part of the sentiment & the date block is Colorbox Textures. (I just realized you can't see the date block, but it is in the bottom right corner of the LO.) I was also inspired by the glow behind the couple in the pic of Leap Year, too, and went with that for the sentiment and my star pen! The title, journaling, and birds are Colorbok Family. The title is "These are the moments we live for" and the journaling states, "Grandmama always loved playing records on her record player. Especially John Denver & The Muppets! She could talk like Kermit the Frog! As you can see in the pictures behind them, they love all their grandchildren & family!" I was referring to the record player memories from when I was younger. Tyler never experienced that, but is in love with both grandparents! I made the flags from the flower paper and glued them on the toothpicks and then glued them down to the LO. The date the pic was taken is November 26, 2010.
My next blog post is probably gonna be about my Cape Hatteras Lighthouse plaque that I finally finished today! It will be ready for me to take home on Saturday!! :) TFL!

Mini Album

I made this mini album for SNC's mini album challenge this month and am going to give it to Tyler! All the paper & embellishments except the candy on the front are DCWV All About Boys Stacks (12x12 & 6x6). The candy chipboard is Basic Grey Life Of the Party. I wanted to go in order from his 1st birthday until now, but started in the wrong place, so I had to put a pic on the back of the front cover! It still works! The first pic is of me, Tyler, & Emily when we were dressed alike the beginning of January, & the next pic is of his cake at his 1st birthday party. I have pics 3 & 4 swapped in the album, the pic of Tyler in the Buzz Lightyear hat and his Boston Red Sox pjs was taken at my sister's house in November 2010 & the pic of Scott/Tyler was taken November 2011.The family pic- Tammy, Tyler, Daddy, me, Emily & Scott was taken at my Uncle Roy's House Thanksgiving 2008 & the pic of Tyler at the beach with bubbles was taken 2009. I tried to incorporate each page with something in the picture-color, sports on Tyler's shirt, beach, robots for Buzz Lightyear, blue camoflague for water, and the pirates back cover page for when he was here last Labor Day. I'll have to scrap those pics again on Pirate paper! We were all making "arrr" faces! LOL! I'm off to Accidental Artist and Morgan's (a great restaurant downtown) tonight for a girls night out! I'll take a pic of what I make and include it in my SMASH book later. I'm going with girls I don't know all that well, so it should be fun! TFL!

Happy Valentine's Day & My Take on Sketchabilities Sketch #65

I decided to put my Valentine gifts (except for the candy of course) in my SMASH book! My mom made the heart doily (sp?)  with a Special Needs class last year and I should have opened it up and took a pic, but didn't. It's kinda like a stained glass window with different colored tissue paper squares glued on top of each other. The Valentine card was a gift from Tyler that I received in the mail. He wrote his name in it! :) The sentiment inside says, "You have a special place in God's heart AND MINE! Happy VALENTINE'S DAY God is love. 1 John 4:8 NIV". It made my day when I saw it in the mail and opened it! It's the little things! I wrote under "Today's Favorite Playlist " the highlights of my day: "1. Valentine gifts- card from Tyler & heart from Mama & Mr. Ray; 2. Moulin Rouge- I heart Ewan MacGregor & all the music- I watched part of it; 3. walked to store for lunch- 2 hot dogs, Ruffles Cheddar & Sour Cream chips, Little Debbie Brownie, & a 32 oz cup of Pepsi; and 3. Made cards for my parents and sent e-cards." The paper behind the heart on the left page has "WELL HEY THERE, COWBOY." on it and the other side has a pic of a woman in computer generized print on it, so I thought Valentine's would fit with these pages! The flower, pink heart, & love chipboards are Studio G, the little stickers are Sticko Lucy Lu, the orange chipboard heart is American Craft, the pear journaling block is Basic Grey Pyrus, and the hearts buttons are some I bought from Walmart in the sewing section. The journaling states, "I'm not much of a Valentine's mushy/feely person! I don't say 'I love you' openly, but show it in my actions!"

I decided to follow the Sketchabilities sketch for the LO below it. I entitled it "Rugged" because the boys are playing with their toys and they're boys! ;) I used DCWV All About Boys Stack & Basic Grey Oliver on everything except for the journaling block is Story Tellers Club/ Dream. The ribbon is some I bought from a LSS and decided to attach the ribbon with a brad instead of knotting it. The journaling states that "Tyler & Landen are second cousins, but only about a year apart in age. They get along so well! Dustin is ready to go home and is already asleep for the ride!" I decided to highlight the words "wheels", "memory", and "sounds" to go along with the pictures. Wheels for the trucks, memory for Buzz Lightyear on Tyler's shirt and a robot pic under the word "memory", and "sounds" since Tyler is covering his ears! I love the sparkle that comes out with my Gelly Roll Clear Star pen! :)  TFL!

Crop Til You Drop Weekend with SNC GFs

I made this LO for Barbara's Strange Challenge for the Crop Til You Drop Weekend with Scrappin-n-Chattin girlfriends! Her challenge was to make a LO of something strange that you normally wouldn't scrap. So, I chose an index print of a role of film! No one would ever think of scrapping that! :) I had to use a magnifying glass to figure out who was in each pic, but I figured it out! The paper is from a set I bought at Big Lots, but I honestly don't know the name of it, possibly Colorbok. The paper has writing embedded in it and I decided to highlight a few phrases with my Gelly Roll Cllear Star pen & 2 American Crafts pens to draw out those phrases- "Wherever you go, go with all your heart" ,"Your wish will forever...", "the secret to good friends is no secret to you", "great was ever achieved without enthusiasm", and "enjoy simple things". I chose this paper since the index print was of Johnson Bible College (now Johnson University) Graduation 1998. The pic mat is Basic Grey Life of the Party. The journaling states who is in each pic block "from L to R & T to B: Random sidewalk/grease stain; Me & Cing the night before her graduation; random pic of me; the next 5 pics are of friends getting their degrees; John holding his cake & I cut his head off :); Carson, Cing, & John; John on the marble staircase with a pic of President Eubanks in the background; the 3 Puffy Tummy's: John, Peter, & Carson; Carson & Cing with Carson's family; Cing & Carson; Cing & I; me sleeping; Cing sleeping (both pics taken by Carson); Cing & Carson's niece, Ashley; Great Smoky Mountains of TN from Carson's car window; me acting silly in my Johnson Bible College sweatshirt, shorts & a hat; Carson & John with firewood for a campfire that never started; Cing & Carson; pic of the sky??; a stream in the mountains; and another pic of the stream with a bridge over it." As you can tell, it was a fun and interesting trip! Cing was my roommate at JBC from 1995-1996. She's from Burma and I shared my clothes with her and helped her with her English. She married Carson in 1997. John, Carson, & Peter were all good friends and you can tell why we called them the 3 puffy tummy's! Carson's dad is in the family pic and he has passed on since. Ashley is 14 by now. I know now not to leave my camera out in the open around Carson, lol! I still have that camera and was trying out the different settings is why I cut John's head off, lol. When I scrapped the pics originally, I put a smiley face in the place of his head! I definitely don't have the dress I wore to the graduation anymore! I still keep in touch with my friends from there. I've been back to Homecoming once and want to go again soon, but my money is tight. I need to get to bed. I'm rambling too much! TFL!

Circle LO for 2 Challenges :)

I made this LO following the TPV sketch above. I changed the stars to hearts to fit with the paper! The paper is Studio G Pink Light Design, as are the chipboard hearts & title- "Best Friends Forever", the animals & little stickers are Sticko Lucy Love, the top border piece & middle border piece is K&Company Adhesive Borders, the big hearts are Studio G, and the bottom border is Basic Grey Sultry Element Stickers. The journaling in the middle heart states that "Tiffany, Kassie, Jennifer & I have known each other since high school and try to get together once a month!" It's typed in Fiolex Girls with the cute little hearts dotting the I's and around each capital letter! :) I traced the big hearts from a stencil set that I bought years ago at Walmart. I like to drag them out every once in awhile! I had so much fun with these girls on Thursday! I'm gonna start taking my camera from now on when we get together and do more layouts of all of us being silly and having fun! :) I'm gonna try selling Valentine's cards and have printed a flyer. If any of you are interested, please e-mail me at nclights7@yahoo.com and I can mail them to you before Tuesday or at least by next weekend! I haven't decided my prices yet, but will once I hear from anyone who is interested! I have bought supplies for it and may buy a little more at Michaels tomorrow. TFL! I'll be scrapping some more this weekend, so please stop by again!

We're Number One! & a Valentine's Day Card

I made this LO for Scrappin-n-Chattin's Heart Challenge this month. Can you find the 4 hearts? I also attached a hearts ribbon on the right side with brads. I added the Superman because like the journaling (in the sunflower border on the left) states "Special needs kids wants someone to love them no matter what they look like and cheer them on in baseball every Saturday from March-June" and they play baseball just to have fun because some of them aren't able to hit the ball and have "super powers" in their own special way!  The rub-on fits both pics as well, "love stretches your heart and makes you big inside."- Margaret Walker. I used the background photo mats to show the different languages of the word "love" and definitions of "service" and "joy"! I added the stickers, "you're a winner" and a baseball to go along with the pictures. I didn't include who is in the pictures because I don't know all of the kids' names and serving the kids isn't about getting credit but showing them how much we love them!

I made this card for my friend, Jennifer, and included it in the Distress Challenge at SNC. As you can tell, I tore the edges on the cover and also tore the edges on the back but didn't include a pic because it's just like the front except for the heart. I also distressed the edges with the file from my Making Memories Tool Kit! The sentiment on the inside, I didn't make, but added some sparkle to it with my Gelly Roll Clear Star pen! I wrote "Happy Valentine's Day" on the left side along with my message and added another heart, but you have to click on the picture to see them. I made this card at 3:30am and didn't mean to throw it together, but was tired and knew I had to get up around 10 to get ready for my lunch with Jennifer, Kassie, and Tiffany! We went to IHOP after David's (Jennifer's baby) dr appointment and had a blast! I decided to take my camera along and got 3 pictures out of them! :) I'll be scrapping them soon! David will be 5 weeks old tomorrow! He didn't cry any while we were eating! He was tired because of the blood work done at the drs to check on his jaundice. You might as well say we had brunch,  because we all had breakfast at 12:30! LOL! We don't get together that often, so when we get the chance we make the best of it! TFL!

Super Bowl XLVI SMASH book entry :)

After reading Sunday's issue of Parade in The News & Observer, I decided to create a 4 pg entry in my SMASH Book about the Super Bowl and include a calendar for the month of February! I decided to do a Top 10 on Commercials & Highlights of the Super Bowl! Some of them are of The Voice and articles from Parade, but the majority centers around the Super Bowl! I won't type them all out, because I'm sick and need to get some rest soon. (That's another story in itself!) The MVP  block is supposed to be "Your Picks!" so I did add Eli Manning, but then added Mario Manningham for 73 yds, Ahmad Bradshaw for making the most talked about TD that Eli didn't want him to make when he fell backwards (LOL), and Michael Lombardi for the trophy! LOL! I really went with the "your picks" idea! I thought I had football stickers, but couldn't find any. I had problems with the football stamp and wasn't giving up! I got ink all over my hand, but it wore off! I found the transparent paper & used a stencil to make the football on the left page. I wrote on it Super Bowl XLVI New York Giants! I wrote the final score at the top corner and included a "final score" sticker! The little t-shirt sticker in the middle of the right page has "Are You Ready For This?" on it! It's supposed to be put over a picture, but I liked the caption! My #1 is my Favorite Commercial- the Skechers dog race where the French bulldog wearing Skechers wins the greyhound race & moonwalked across the finish line! Two other commercials I liked was the Doritos commercial with the grandma & the Honda- Matthew Broderick commercial! I loved him as Ferris Bueller so that commercial reminded me of that movie! :)  My #10 is my favorite article in Parade- "One Family, Six Continents, Twelve Good Deeds" (http://www.parade.com/news/2012/02/05-12-good-deeds.html). I won't tell what the article is about, but the main thing is this guy made a difference! I included the Parade cover on the 3rd page since it was kinda my inspiration and then wanted to include the Parade in my book so I added a February folder! I've actually started filling it up and have quite a few more days empty than I originally thought! I won't include my work schedule however so that takes up more time. I need to get off here and get some rest. I'm going to try to scrap some later this afternoon and post back on here Thursday! Have a great hump day! :)
